 l\n\nQuantum computing offers the potential to revolutionize high-performa
 nce computing by providing a means to solve certain computational problems
  faster than any classical computer.  Relatively recently, quantum computi
 ng has advanced from a theoretical possibility to an engineered reality, w
 ith commercial entities offering early prototype quantum processors, both 
 special-purpose quantum annealers and general-purpose gate-model processor
 s.\n\nIn this tutorial, we introduce participants to the computational mod
 els underlying quantum computing.  We work through examples of its immense
  computational power while highlighting what the quantum computing communi
 ty still does not know in terms of quantum algorithms and whence the power
  of quantum computing.  We examine the thought processes that programmers 
 use to map problems both to quantum annealers and gate-model quantum proce
 ssors.  We conclude with an overview of the hardware and algorithmic chall
 enges that must be overcome before quantum computing becomes a component o
