SUMMARY:SOLAR Consortium: Accelerated Ray Tracing for Scientific Simulatio
 ns
DESCRIPTION:Exhibitor Forum\n\nSOLAR Consortium: Accelerated Ray Tracing f
 or Scientific Simulations\n\nNavratil, Gribble, Grosset, Amstutz\n\nMany p
hysical simulations incorporate vector mathematics to model phenomena such
as radiative transfer and to compute behavior such as particle advection.
Hardware-optimized ray tracing engines, tuned by processor manufacturer e
ngineers, can accelerate simulation-critical sections that depend on ray-b
ased traversals and intersections. This Exhibitors Forum will serve as a v
enue for developers and users of simulations, visual analysis codes and ra
y tracers to discuss interfaces, capabilities and performance. This meetin
g will continue the conversation toward standardization of ray tracer inte
rfaces to facilitate their expanding role throughout scientific workflows,
including data evaluation, insight formulation, discovery communication a
nd presentation-quality artifact generation.\n\nTag: Extreme Scale Computi
ng, Scientific Computing\n\nRegistration Category: Tech Program Reg Pass,
 Exhibit Hall Only
