SUMMARY:Experiences with Cross-Facility Real-Time Light Source Data Analys
 is Workflows
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\n\nExperiences with Cross-Facility Real-Time Light So
urce Data Analysis Workflows\n\nGiannakou, Blaschke, Bard, Ramakrishnan\n\
nWe are seeing a growth in scientific data from experimental and observati
onal facilities that are resulting in significant new computational patter
ns and needs. For example, scientists running experiments at light Sources
, often analyses workflows require near real-time access to compute resour
ces in order to obtain results used for re-configuring on-going experiment
 s. These workflows often have requirements that are different from the tra
ditional large-scale parallel applications that have traditionally run at
HPC centers. In this presentation, we present our experiences supporting t
wo light source data analysis workflows that run on HPC resources at Natio
nal Energy Research Scientific Computing Center. We discuss the characteri
stics of workflows, runtime requirements and associated execution challeng
es when running on HPC environments. We present a discussion that address
execution challenges and current and future solutions for leveraging HPC r
esources for near real-time data analysis.\n\nTag: Applications, Big Data,
