DESCRIPTION:Workshop\n\nXLOOP 2021:  The 3rd Annual Workshop on Extreme-Sc
 ale Experiment-in-the-Loop Computing\n\nWozniak, Schwarz\n\nAdvancement in
  computational power and high-speed networking is enabling a new model of 
 scientific experiment, experiment-in-the-loop computing (EILC).  In this m
 odel, simulation and/or learning modules are run as data is collected from
  observational and experimental sources.  Presently, the amount and comple
 xity of data generated by simulations and by observational and experimenta
 l sources, such as sensor networks and large-scale scientific facilities, 
 continues to increase. Several research challenges exist, many of which ar
 e independent of the scientific application domain.  To merge simulation e
 nsembles and experimental data sets, new algorithms, including artificial 
 intelligence and machine learning algorithms, must be developed.  Data tra
 nsfer techniques and workflows must be constructed to control the ensemble
 s and integrate simulated and observed data sets.  The Workshop on Extreme
 -scale Experiment-in-the-Loop Computing (XLOOP 2021) will be a unique oppo
 rtunity to promote this interdisciplinary topic area.  We invite papers, p
 resentations and participants from the physical and computer sciences.\n\n
