SUMMARY:CANOPIE-HPC: Containers and New Orchestration Paradigms for Isolat
 ed Environments in HPC
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\n\nCANOPIE-HPC: Containers and New Orchestration Para
digms for Isolated Environments in HPC\n\nYounge, Canon, Bridges\n\nThe on
going revolution in user-defined software stacks (UDSS) via containerizati
on, virtualization and other methods has dramatically changed how applicat
ions and services are delivered across the entire computing industry. Pop
ularized by Docker, this shift has established a new ecosystem of tools an
d techniques with new, more flexible and agile approaches, thereby also ga
ining traction in the HPC community. In addition to HPC-optimized contain
er runtimes, emerging technologies like Kubernetes and Podman create a new
set of opportunities and challenges. While adoption is growing, there re
main numerous questions regarding best practices, foundational concepts, t
ools and standards. Our goal is to promote and accelerate the adoption and
impact of this new ecosystem to better address HPC use cases. This worksh
op serves as a key venue for presenting late-breaking research, sharing ex
periences and best practices, and fostering collaboration in this field. O
ur second workshop iteration will emphasize real-world experiences and cha
llenges in HPC UDSS.\n\nTag: Applications, Emerging Technologies, Reproduc
ibility and Transparency, Software Engineering, System Software and Runtim
e Systems, Workflows\n\nRegistration Category: Workshop Reg Pass
