 anguage has made significant inroads in improving performance and producti
 vity across a broad spectrum of applications and hardware. The C++ languag
 e bindings to MPI had been deleted since MPI 3.0 (circa 2009) due to the r
 ationale that it added minimal functionality over the existing C bindings.
  In this paper, we discuss ongoing efforts of the recently formed MPI work
 ing group on language bindings in the context of providing modern C++ (C++
 11 and beyond) support to MPI. From existing efforts, it is apparent that 
 it is challenging to devise a compact set of C++ bindings over MPI with th
 e “right” level of abstractions to support a variety of application uses c
 ases under the expected performance/memory constraints. To engage with the
  broader MPI and C++ communities, we discuss a prototypical interface deri
 ved from mpl, which is C++17 message passing library based on MPI.\n\nTag:
