Biography
Ryan Socks is undertaking his third year of a Bachelor of Philosophy degree at the Australian National University majoring in Computer Science with a strong interest in High-Performance Computing (HPC). Ryan has previously worked with the ANU RE100 group to develop code for a worldwide search of potential off-river pumped hydro storage sites as well as the ANU bushfire initiative developing and simulating algorithms to be used for drones to inspect recent lightning strikes for potential ignitions. He also has strong interests in physics and mathematics, leading the Radford College team to win the International Mathematical Modelling Challenge in 2018 along with several medals and prizes in the Australian Mathematics Competition.
